Fran Faraz

Fran Faraz is a Professor of Global and Peace Studies at Golden West College, where her academic and professional work focuses on Global Issues, Conflict Resolution, Social Justice, Environmental Justice, and Nonviolent Activism.

For over fifteen years, she organized Golden West’s annual International Peace Conference and led numerous global peace-focused initiatives, including forums, documentary screenings, panel discussions, speaker series, and workshops on a wide range of international and contemporary issues such as genocide, migration, human trafficking, trauma recovery, and environmental sustainability.

As an advisor to the Leadership Club, she actively mentors students in their academic journeys and professional development. She has established four student fellowships in the areas of Diversity, Social Justice, Environmental Sustainability, and Compassionate Communities, and created a dedicated scholarship for members of the Black Student Union (BSU) at Golden West College.

Professor Faraz serves on the boards of both the Center for Citizen Peacebuilding at the University of California, Irvine, and the Euphrates Institute, and she remains engaged in peace and global studies initiatives through collaborations with institutions such as the Ojai Cultural Center and beyond.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science and a Master of Arts in History from Northeastern University.
